Labor trafficking is a form of human trafficking that uses coercion, lies, and violence against people for forced labor. Some jobs that may fall under this are servants, factory workers, and farmworkers. Not everyone in these jobs are subject to violence, but is it common. Labor trafficking is seen on a global scale, including the United States. In the U.S., illegal immigrants are more likely to fall victims to labor trafficking as they have come to this country seeking a better life for themselves and their families and their chances of reporting violence are minimal. This holds true across the globe, but I use the United States as an example to put it in perspective. Many American countries move their companies across borders because labor is cheaper. Why is labor cheaper? It is cheaper because people are working under inhumane conditions and receiving very little pay. The United States is viewed as an unflawed super country, but it has widespread human trafficking. Many of our products are made in countries by people who are victims of human trafficking and exploitation.
